Compliance Audits: A Consistency Checkup

Organizations today are under increasing scrutiny to provide proof of transparency in all their transactions and dealings. This can best be accomplished with an audit of the organization's strategy for creating, maintaining, accessing and retaining or properly disposing of all company information assets. The strategy used in developing the controls and processes as well as the rules and procedures created must be reviewed from time-to-time for consistency and completion.

This webinar addresses several major issues regarding RIM compliance and answers fundamental questions including: what is compliance and why it is mandatory, how you can help your organization become compliant, the auditing process and how audit findings can best be used to develop process improvement.

Presented by Scott Murchison, CRM of Kaizen InfoSource, LLC.

The World According to GARP®!

As a discipline, records and information management has evolved from an administrative function into a senior position focused on governance, policy, process and the use of technology to manage records and information in all media formats. Progressive organizations are proactively managing records and information assets in order to improve efficiency, reduce risk, and ensure compliance with an expanding set of legal, regulatory, ethical and/or information security/privacy requirements.

ARMA International (the premier association of records management professionals) has developed GARP® (Generally Accepted Recordkeeping Principles) as a means to objectively measure the maturity of an organization’s records management program. This presentation presents the eight governing principles, each supported by five characteristic levels, which can be used to evaluate the maturity of an organization's records and information management program. The presentation also explains how GARP provides a roadmap to improve a records management program.

Presented by Terrence J. Coan, CRM, Director, at Hildebrandt Baker Robbins.

Are You Planning for Disasters or Creating One?

Understand what elements records and information management (RIM) Professionals should have in a Business Continuity Plan (BCP). In order for a company to protect its information assets, it must have a plan that addresses the most likely, not all, potential threats and have a strategy to address those threats once they occur. Having a plan is not a guarantee of being prepared. The plan must be tested to ensure that it works.

The session identifies key partnerships and knowledge every company should have with regard to the testing and execution of a BCP. Learn the key elements that should be included in a BCP, observe examples of how to test a BCP and understand what type of support is needed from external business partners to support the plan and the preparation.
